African Technology Policy Studies Network

ATPS is a multi-disciplinary network of researchers, policy makers and other end-users interested in the generation, promotion and strengthening of innovative technology and industrial policies in Africa. With a regional secretariat in Nairobi, it operates through national chapters in 23 countries with an expansion plan in place to cover the entire sub-Saharan Africa

ATPS organizes programme activities at regional and national levels. The Secretariat takes leadership to develop region-wide programmes, while national chapters are responsible for country specific initiatives. Regionwide activities are organized in three interrelated functional domains: research, capacity building, and policy, outreach and advocacy. Research programmes are developed on broad themes including biotechnology, information and communication technologies (ICTs), globalization and international trade, and human health technologies. For each of these programmes, detailed concept papers and proposals are prepared and discussed at the Network's annual conferences. Learn more
