Nairobi University Biochemistry Students Association (NUBSA) Workshop Dinner.

The African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS) through its youth programme the African Youth Forum for Science and Technology (AYFST) supported the Nairobi University Biochemistry Students Association (NUBSA) to organize a dinner and workshop on 18 May 2007 at the Hilton hotel under the theme Intellectual Property Rights: protecting innovations of Kenyans for the benefit of Kenyans. The dinner and workshop sought to enlighten biochemistry students on the necessity and value of patent laws, demystify intellectual property rights (IPRs) and elaborate the patenting process to biochemistry students.
The Nairobi University Biochemistry Students Association (NUBSA) was founded through the students' initiative in the 1980s to build a cadre of internationally recognized scientists capable of research leadership. NUBSA's core activities are to implement incentives and reward systems for scientific research, foster a culture of research collaboration among scientists, build a critical mass of scientists, institutionalize a policy of "publish, innovate or perish" , carry out continuous needs assessment and prioritize areas of research.
